Alberto Carvalho became Superintendent of the nation's fourth largest school system in September 2008. He is a nationally recognized expert on school reform and finance who successfully transformed his district's business operations and financial systems with the implementation of a streamlined Strategic Framework focused on a singular goal of student achievement.

The data is clear, health impacts student achievement. In this segment we look at ways to improve student health by improving school climates.

Howell Wechsler, EdD, MPH, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Alliance for a Healthier Generation, is a national expert on childhood obesity, having previously served as the Director of the Division of Adolescent and School Health (DASH) at the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

In this segment we talk about what was learned about using E-learning on snow days when schools close for weather. We also discuss the key challenges and parent feedback.

Shelly Vaughn earned her undergraduate degree from Ball State University and masters from Wright State University. She had twelve years of teaching experience in special education and various elementary grades before transitioning to elementary principal with Fort Recovery Local Schools. She is currently in her third year as superintendent.

In this segment we talk about the E-Rate program the nations largest education technology program. Revisions to the program are currently being explored, aimed at expanding broadband access to all schools.

Shellie Pfohl was appointed by President Barack Obama in February, 2010 to serve as Executive Director of the President's Council on Fitness, Sports and Nutrition (PCFSN). Shellie leads the Council's efforts to support First Lady Michelle Obama's Let's Move! initiative to end childhood obesity within a generation.

The science now clearly shows a connection between physical activity and academic performance. In this segment we talk about new efforts to introduce physical activity into math, science and social studies lesson plans.

Craig Kielburger is an humanitarian, social activist and best-selling author, Craig, co-founder of Free The Children and co-founder of Me to We, has inspired a generation of young people to be active global change-makers. Craig has received national and international recognition, recently becoming one of the youngest recipients of the Order of Canada.
