Donald Trump started this trade war anticipating that manufacturing would return to the United States. When one examines the type of manufacturing that he’s trying to court - it’s just not going to happen. Companies like Apple have a well-embedded supply chain in China and India - and they just don’t have the workforce, the parts, or the capacity to move this to North America.
