Big changes are taking effect for Californians starting Tuesday, affecting everything from to-go drinks, travel plans and even how much you pay at the pump for gas.

The Senate's long day of voting has churned toward evening, as Republican leaders grasp for ways to shore up support for President Donald Trump's big bill of tax breaks and spending cuts.

Embattled San Mateo County Sheriff Christina Corpus is now fighting on two different fronts to keep her job, after a civil grand jury formally accused her of "willful or corrupt misconduct," prosecutors announced Monday.
