Videos show plumes of smoke over the city of Puerto Vallarta and travelers sprinting through the airport of the state's capital in panic.

In Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, plumes of black smoke could be seen rising as vehicles were set on fire on Sunday. The unrest is in connection with the killing of the powerful leader of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel, Nemesio Rubén Oseguera Cervantes, "El Mencho." Flights are being canceled, and U.S. citizens are being told to stay put.

Flight cancellations were piling up at San Francisco International Airport on Sunday as a major blizzard clobbers the Northeast, shutting down airports and making travel treacherous.
