Embattled San Mateo County Sheriff Christina Corpus is now fighting on two different fronts to keep her job, after a civil grand jury formally accused her of "willful or corrupt misconduct," prosecutors announced Monday.

"The alarm had been going off for four hours... from 8 o'clock at night... 'til midnight. Then a bit after," said an El Sobrante neighbor describing one incident.

Barely an hour into jury deliberations Monday, the foreperson alerted the court that another juror was having trouble following the judge's instructions.

Supervisors, city council members and other leaders held a press conference on Monday calling for more funding to public transportation. Officials are hoping San Mateo County opts into Senate Bill 63.

The allegations against Sheriff Corpus include one count of conflict of interest and three counts of retaliation. She has denied any impropriety.

Boulder County District Attorney's Office said in a statement Monday that Karen Diamond died as a result of "the severe injuries that she suffered in the attack."
