This week Llewelyn continued our 'Practicing the Sabbath' series, with a message on Delight.Reading from Psalm 37:4 “Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart", he used the analogy of eating food without thinking and missing out on the joy that it brings.
Llewelyn encourages us to slow down so we don't miss out on the good things that God has for us. God gives us the desires of our heart, but often we are too distracted, or too busy to actually take it in. We need to put boundaries in place to help keep distractions at bay and release us into rest. We need to devote ourselves to joy as a feeling, a discipline and a condition. Sabbath is a practice that helps us to invest in delight so that we can appreciate the gifts that God gives us.
Llewelyn leaves us with the following questions to reflect upon this week:
- In what ways do you need to slow down and make sure you allow yourself to experience the desires of your heart?
- What boundaries do you need to put in place to protect your Sabbath and to release you into delight and joy?
- How can you delight in the Lord? What activities could you engage in to help you delight and experience joy?
