Romans contains Paul's communication to the Christians in Rome. Written during a time of peace, Paul knew he was writing to a diverse city where the population of a new church consisted of sailors, wealthy tradesmen, former idolaters, and slaves. He wanted them to become see their likeness in Christ and understand salvation comes by grace and not obedience to laws.

Summary:  Many Christians are willing to talk about their faith and about the Lord. Unfortunately, not all of those are obediently translating their faith into the actions and conduct commanded by the Lord. The number of those talking the talk includes some not walking the walk. Said another way, the “hearers only” of God’s Word are not the same as the faithful doers of that same Word. This is not pleasing to God, and He deals with this issue extensively in the Scriptures. May the Lord use this to lead each of us into a heartfelt self-examination.

1. You shall have no other gods before Me. Perhaps the MOST important Commandment of them all and sets the tones with others to follow.

2. You shall make no idols. Easy to do in our current society, this the first commandment with a promise.

3. You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain. With so many people saying GD or JC out in public, how many times do you hear the Lord's name taken in vain?
