In the wake of Texas’s new abortion law, many reproductive rights advocates fear the eventual overturning of Roe v. Wade, which affirmed that access to safe and legal abortion is a constitutional right.

Before Roe, it was extremely dangerous—health-wise and legally—to get an abortion. Today, Tuesday host Carousel Bayrd speaks with two women about their experiences with abortion in the pre-Roe era.

First, retired Madison attorney Linda Roberson tells stories from her time running an underground abortion access network in Ohio as a college student in the 1960s.

Then, Madison resident Jan Silvers describes the abortion she had while a student at the University of Wisconsin.
