Daniel Thompson is the founder of Noma Collective and a true global citizen who spent his youth moving around the world, and today curates experiences for digital nomads who want to explore the world - without the headache, and with their tribe. In today’s episode we dive into “Noma” and how it intersects with the evolution of today’s remote worker, providing a stepping stone for those that want to use this new found freedom, but aren’t quite sure where to begin. We also touch on life in Belize, where Daniel has been living the past few years, as well as the coming phases of digital nomading, and how we start to weave our families and financial stability into this lifestyle.

David Comfort used to work on Wall Street and has enjoyed life in Southern California, but he traded all of that in to chase a dream to live a more well balanced life in Costa Rica. He has since developed Rise Costa Rica, an 800 acre community of expats coming from all corners of the world, with schools in place for their children, a coworking space, activity center, and a thriving social scene and support network. Having gone through the moving abroad process himself, and helping dozens of others follow in his footsteps, we dive into some of the practicalities of moving to Costa Rica, as well as touch on why this country has become one of the most attractive places in the world for expats and digital nomads.

Amin Greige grew up in Lebanon and when another crisis slammed the country and his daily commute went from four hours to seven hours, he decided now was the time. He discovered Cyprus, a European island nation in the Mediterranean, and one of fastest growing nomad and expat hotspots in the world due to the infrastructure they have in place for remote workers. From digital nomad visas to tax advantageous laws, to the warm mediterranean climate, incredible fusion of history and culture, and the relatively low cost of living - it’s no surprise that this is quickly becoming one of the most sought after destinations for people looking to move abroad. Today, Amin shares his perspective on relocating to Cyprus, as well as his personal story and how the democratization of opportunity via remote work, has changed his life for the better.

Lavinia Iosub is the the Managing Partner of Livit International, a co-working space, community, and startup incubator based in Bali. A true global citizen originally from Romania, Lavinia has traveled to ~40 countries, lived in 8 countries, and created a current reality that allows her to split her time between Bali and slo-mading around the world in her down time. She’s been calling Bali her home for eight years now, and has built an incredible community on a side of the island that attracts a slightly different crowd than the popular nomad hotspots in Ubud and Canggu. Today she shares a bit about the lesser known aspects of Bali and Indonesia, how some of her projects are positively impacting the local communities here, and how anyone can make the move to this tropical paradise.

Amir Salihefendic is known by many as the Founder & CEO of Doist, one of the pioneering remote-first companies, and the creators of Todoist & Twist, two leading tech products in their respective spaces. What fewer people know, is that he comes from a truly global upbringing. Born and raised in Bosnia, his family was forced to escape the war as refugees. He eventually found himself in Denmark, and later went on to live in places like Taiwan, Chile, Portugal, and others. Despite episodes which involved buying fake passports and sleeping in makeshift refugee camps, today he leads a team of 100 people spread across 35 countries, is raising three children in Barcleona where they are learning four languages simultantesouly, and splits his time between Spain and Santiago de Chile. In this episode we dive into his personal journey, and how these experiences abroad shaped him into the global leader he is known as today.

Nicole Caba joins About Abroad today to discuss her move to Lyon, France, and how her personal experience traveling the world with her dog, changed the trajectory of her life. She’s now the founder of Avvinue, a company hoping to reshape how we travel with our pets, which can unlock a life abroad for so many of us who feel this lifestyle is inaccessible because of our furry friends. We laugh through some pet-travel horror stories, and talk about the realities of moving abroad, finding community in a foreign place, and the paradox of choice that hovers over perpetual travelers.
