The first major advances in ironmaking were the byproducts of industrial espionage and whiskey.

We get into a more detailed look at the early days of Iron before and during the miracle.  Along with telling the story of Dud Dudley and Abraham Darby, we go into the economists thought experiment, could the Industrial Revolution have happened without the new discoveries in iron making.

And of course, there is the role of luck.  And the combination of skills.  Darby, was a 
Quaker, accepted by the Quaker metal refining community of Bristol.  He was also an industrial spy, a talented experimenter, an inventor, a roaster of malt, and a gifted businessman.
