Absurdity with Ryan Becker episodes
- A69 Can Pastors Question Their Faith?
Happy New Year! This episode we bring some cool Patreon announcements for 2019, and Tony and I discuss what the current church atmosphere is for pastors who go through a crisis of faith and have to ask difficult questions. As people in ministry, this is something that has impacted us personally and we have seen friends and colleagues deal with it as well. We hope this gives you a peek behind the curtain, so to speak, at what it means to be in ministry.
Here is the short VICE Documentary that inspired this episode.

A good friend of ours, Lauren Brooks, joins us to talk about a recent post she made on her blog about church. We dive into current church culture and community and we try to answer the question: Is it better to sit disengaged in the service or not to attend at all?
IMPORTANT NOTE: All three of us want to like the local church. This was one of the most difficult conversations we have encountered on this show because of the depth of our involvement in our local church spheres. Any awkward moments are the result of us just trying to navigate this conversation as best as we can.Check out Lauren's blog here!Check out Awaken Conference in Charlotte, NC: www.awakennc.comUse Dicount Code "absurdity" for 10% off your ticket!Check out our sponsors for this episode:www.thehaystack.orgMusic by Justin Janetzko

If you think this is about phones, sorry to disappoint! This episode, we dive in to ways pastors are avoiding talking about the "dirty texts" of Sciptures and why it's a dangerous and harmful trap to fall into. It turns out, in the same way you can miss the forest for the trees, you can also miss the trees for the forest.
