  • 030 So Much Greater: Jesus Redeems

The enemy comes to steal, kill, and destroy. We may be acquainted with this - but do we focus our eyes on how Jesus is SO MUCH GREATER? In this series, we are unpacking how He specifically does the opposite of each tactic of the enemy. In part 2 of 3, we unpack what the enemy tries to steal from believers and how Christ redeems our life from the pit!

We chat about the joy of sappy songs with great vibes from Jake Scott and Noah Kahan! We also talk about recent "Discontent Declutters" we've been doing around the house.

We discuss what inspired the change, a brief history of Abundantly, what will stay the same, and what new listeners can expect in this era of the podcast. We unpack what we are most excited for and nervous about having more people listening to our unfiltered conversations. More than anything, we want this to be a place where you can know the hope you have in Christ and also experience the joy of your salvation. A place where you can look forward to eternity, and live according to biblical abundance here and now.

  • 027 Introducing With The Shepherd

Today, Emilee is interviewed by With The Shepherd Writing Team Member Liz La Voie all about the heart behind the business and ministry With The Shepherd. Liz joined us back on episode 016, and joins us now to discuss ways we can step out of church hurt, burn out, and a lifestyle of striving to rest in the love of God! As busy ministry people (whether we are in a vocational role or not), it's so important that we are abiding in the Vine and tending to our own soil first. Be a part of the With The Shepherd community where we provide meaningful coaching, resources, and experiences for the disciple that wants to go deeper.

P.S. Make sure you listen to the end for an important announcement about the future of Abundantly!

Becoming Elisabeth Elliot Book Club W6: Chapter 27-31

Spoiler alert: this is my favorite episode of the entire book club. The lovely Lia Ross leads our discussion this week, and we tackle:

    • things we’ve had to unlearn from bad church experiences
    • staying obedient to God when the people in your life don’t get your calling
    • main takeaway from all we've read in Becoming Elisabeth Elliot so far
    • how Elisabeth and Rachel living among the Waodoni should increase our trust in God

    • 024 Grieving Jim Elliot + Being Honest With God

Becoming Elisabeth Elliot Book Club W5: Chapter 20-26

Lia Ross and I talk about those hard moments in life when we live in the reality of God’s faithfulness and it is not just us affirming truth in theory. Elisabeth Elliot loses her husband under the eyes and expectations of millions, and we learn many beautiful lessons from her. Including: We can be honest with God. A fruitful life will require many moments when we are at the end of our rope. We can trust that His perfect peace and His perfect strength will be on display in our lives, in our perseverance AND our weakness!

    • 023 How do we define success?

Becoming Elisabeth Elliot Book Club W4: Chapter 15-19

When it comes to our homes and callings, how do we define success? What would happen if we saw fruitfulness not in "coherent answers" or preferred outcomes, but true and wholehearted obedience?

This week we cover such life transition in Elisabeth's life - from single to courtship, from engagement to marriage, from pregnancy to motherhood! The missionary journey takes off with a bang, and we join Elisabeth in the jungle where she is translating the Word of God into the tribal language and supporting Jim. She faces many grueling challenges along the way, and if you are discouraged chapters 15-19 will be a safe place for you to land. Lia and I share the ways that the missionaries' philosophy of ministry is changing the game for us. "Watching" this group of people live their lives as faithfully as they can is changing the way we see God at work in our own stories, the way we manage time, and how we define "success" according to the Kingdom and not the world!

    • 022 How do we live fully in the sacrifical + mundane?

Becoming Elisabeth Elliot Book Club W3: Chapter 10-14

As Christians, we are called to live fully and to live as servants without selfish ambition. Jim Elliot had a sacrificial life, but he was also an advocate of "being all there" wherever you are called and living "to the hilt"! Through Jim and Elisabeth's life, and the guidelines in Scripture, we see that you can enjoy life and obey God at the same time - because His design is best. In His order, we truly flourish. Because of our eternal inheritance, life is always ABUNDANT even if our circumstances don't say so. We talk about daily faithfulness, the crazy wait that Elisabeth had to go through before she was committed to Jim, discerning the will of God over our lives, and how that connects to learning on Christ hour by hour for ever-present help.

We hope these intentional, casual, and verbally processed book thoughts are blessing you!

    • 021 The Shape of Godliness with Lia Ross

Becoming Elisabeth Elliot Book Club W2: Chapter 5-9

The one where they talk about housekeeping and our souls, Elisabeth's adolescent years, women that shaped Elisabeth's faith, and Emilee says *like* way too many times - oops. ;) Lia and Emilee share the women that have showed them the "shape of godliness" in their own lives, and are bolstered by Elisabeth's contagious tenacity for the gospel!
