  • Will Miss America Re-Sign with Atlantic City?
    Miss America 2016

Will the Miss America organization re-sign with Atlantic City? She already inked a new 3 year deal with the ABC-TV network, based on the one million extra viewers this past year. Yeah. The ratings were that good. Now it's time to lock up another 3 years in keeping this historic event here at Boardwalk Hall.

Will the CRDA cough up $3 million? We hope so. We also hope Miss A will use a casino showroom for the preliminary events. No need to burn through so much cash using historic Boardwalk Hall for the sparsely attended, but highly entertaining, pre-lims.

During a recent ASK THE MAYOR show, Harry Hurley of WPG Talk Radio 1450 chatted up Atlantic City Mayor Don Guardian. The topic of Miss America came up. Click & listen to a few clips.

  • Listen: Atlantic City Striper Fishing. The Best in Years.
    Captain Dave

Striped Bass seem to like the 50 degree waters off of Atlantic City and South Jersey.
According to Captain Dave of the Absecon Sportsman Center, he says it's the best striper fishing he's ever seen in the Atlantic City area.
One caveat though, most of the fish are being caught one to two miles off shore. The action in the surf is spotty.

  • Atlantic County & Atlantic City to Offer Local Business Loans
    Max Slusher of the ACIA

In an effort to stimulate economic growth and development, Atlantic County and the City of Atlantic City are offering two loan programs for businesses in Atlantic City and portions of the county to promote job creation, revitalize communities and increase the ratable base. Funding for the loans that are administered by the Atlantic County Improvement Authority (ACIA) is provided by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s (HUD) Section 108 program which allows communities to leverage their Community Development Block Grant funds into federally guaranteed loans for economic revitalization.

“We’re very pleased to offer these programs for the purpose of growing our local businesses and generating jobs for our residents,” stated County Executive Dennis Levinson. “As our current lead economic development agency, the ACIA has taken the initiative to pursue and successfully acquire the use of $6 million in federally-guaranteed funding.”

The 108 Loan Program can provide for-profit businesses with loans up to 40 percent of the project cost at a maximum of $400,000 with repayment terms of 10-20 years. One job must be created for every $35,000 spent. A non-refundable $200 application fee is required.
