Jesus instructed the early church leaders to go and make disciples by spreading His message to anyone who would listen. However, he also told them to baptize people who believed. A seemingly small, insignificant practice, but one that they followed through with and saw results through. In this week's message, we learn why baptism was such and big deal as the Church was gaining momentum, and why it's still a relevant practice for us today.

Jesus allowed Himself to be crucified on the cross as an innocent man, marking the beginning of Christianity. He died for the guilty, overcoming sin and death so that they could go free. One third of the world’s population have accepted Him as their Savior. But there are so many people who haven’t….why not? Paul warns Timothy in his final letter about the troubles Christianity will face in the future - persecution, people turning towards the evils of culture, and how hard it can be to stay true to Jesus Christ. Most of us would assume that we need to go out and "fight" and "win" people over, but Paul says something different. We need to do more than just make a point...

The Apostle Paul warned Timothy about the direction culture would take - and the outlook wasn't good. In fact, if we take a look around the world we live in, we can see his final words coming to life. In order to resist the river of culture, Paul told Timothy to go back to his roots. So many issues and relational problems we face stem from meaningless arguments we have with one another. Disagreeing over vacation destinations, home decor, or which sport to enroll your kids into. At the end of the day, none of these issues are things that we would die for. Yet they can so easily divide and distract from the truly important matters in life. In Paul's last letter, he encourages Timothy to stay away from the same types of arguments within the church. Taking wisdom from his words, we discuss how to safeguard ourselves from the danger of quarrels.
