Today’s One Minute Wonder struck me as a beautiful way to go into the weekend as soon as I heard it.
In the most recent episode of Kate Bowler’s Everything Happens podcast, the writer, mother and professor at Duke Divinity School has a wonderful conversation on the subject of “Being spread too thin” with fellow writer and mother Shauna Niequist. Shauna is the author Present Over Perfect (possibly the book I’ve gifted most often to girlfriends), among other, beautiful memoirs.
Kate’s podcast is hands-down one of my favourites. It always has me pausing, going back, re-listening and reflecting for a long time afterwards. I don’t like to be too distracted when I’m listening to it, if that makes sense? I save it for when I’m doing something slow and methodical, like cooking (I’m hearing my husband laugh at this point. There’s nothing much methodical about me in the kitchen).
I love Kate’s beautiful, powerful writing , too - I’m listening to her extraordinary book, Everything Happens for a Reason and Other Lies I've Loved on Audible and I have her others lined up to read.
In their conversation, so much stood out but what Shauna shared about the senses leapt out and I had to share it with you.
Do listen to the whole chat - it is life giving and full of goodness to take away!
Also! Hat tip to Everyday Natalie, who flagged up this episode with Kate interviewing Shauna in her lovely coffee date newsletter this week!
