Okay, friend, this one's bold. Jesus isn't being poetic here — He's making a real claim, and it's a lot to sit with.

Here is how to end a hard month steady instead of shaken.
"I have set the Lord always before me; because he is at my right hand, I shall not be shaken." (Psalm 16:8, ESV)
Notice this is something David does. I have set the Lord before me. He keeps God in his line of sight on purpose, in front of everything else. And the result is stability. When the Lord is the fixed point you keep looking to, the ground can move and you will not. Set Him before you, and walk into the new month unshaken.
What would it look like to set the Lord before you first thing each morning?

Before you did anything right or wrong, before you existed, God already wanted you.
"even as he chose us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and blameless before him. In love he predestined us for adoption to himself as sons through Jesus Christ, according to the purpose of his will," (Ephesians 1:4-5, ESV)
Before the foundation of the world. You were not an afterthought or a backup plan. God chose you and set out to adopt you into His own family, on purpose, in love. When you feel unwanted or overlooked, this is the truth underneath the feeling. You were chosen first.
How would today feel different if you truly lived like someone God chose on purpose?

If you have ever done the exact thing you swore you would not do, you are in good company. Paul felt it too.

"For I do not understand my own actions. For I do not do what I want, but I do the very thing I hate." (Romans 7:15, ESV)

This is the apostle Paul, not a brand-new believer. The war inside you is not proof that you are a fraud. It is proof that you are alive to God and still need Him. And the answer to this verse comes a few lines later. Thanks be to God through Jesus Christ.

God does something with your forgiven sin that we could never do. He forgets it.

"For I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more." (Jeremiah 31:34, ESV)

Read that last part again. Remember their sin no more. The God who knows everything chooses to hold your forgiven sin against you never again. The thing you keep replaying at 2 a.m., He has already put away. If God is not bringing it up anymore, you can stop carrying it too.
