  • According to RP - Ep 33 ft. Samuel Pierre
This week RP is chopping it up with her guest Samuel Pierre, who is a management consultant, economic developer and strategist in the New York City area. We will be weighing in on the recent college admissions scandal and taking a critical look at affirmative action. Instagram, twitter and Facebook have been lit with outrage over this scandal. The issue of affirmative action has now come back to the forefront in light of the recent scandals calling in to question whether these universities can be trusted to evaluate prospective candidates fairly. But what is fair? What is privilege? White people have been bribing their way through life since the beginning of time, why is the black community so shocked? Why are we mad? Think for a moment, if you were a wealthy person of color, would you pass up the opportunity to get your child into the school of tier choice? What is the real issue here? Why is this even top news? • According to RP - Ep. 36 ft Audace Garnett
April is sexual assault awareness month and this week I will be talking about this very important topic with my special guest Audace Garnett, a victims advocate and CEO and Founder of Auscension Advocacy, LLC. Sexual assault does not stop at stranger rape, and date rape. It extends to childhood sexual abuse at the hands of family, clergy and friends. So many of us are walking around in pain. Sexual abuse happens in every community, however we in the black community refuse to talk about. We chose to sweep it under the rug not understanding the serious impact it has not only on the victim but on the community as a whole. In order to heal, we must first address. I know this is a very heavy topic, but it is one that needs to be discussed, so tune in as Audace and I scratch the surface of this topic.
