October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month. In this episode of According to RP, Ritha shares the mic with domestic violence advocates Audace Garnett and Evelyn Hicks. Audace is no stranger to the According to RP show and has talked to us about domestic violence in the past. Evelyn is the founder of Shades of Love Empowerment Group, an organization that raises awareness for male victims and survivors of domestic violence. 

 

When it comes to domestic violence, society tends to focus on female victims and survivors. We do not often hear about men and youth victims/ survivors of domestic violence. But they are out there. Domestic violence does not discriminate and as you will hear in tonight's episode, the tactics and warning signs are the same across the board. Tune in to learn more about how men and youth are being affected by domestic violence, and what we as a community can do to raise more awareness.

This week RP is talking about the recent happenings in Haiti. As many of you know, The President of Haiti, Jovenel Moise was Assassinated in his home on July 7, 2021. The news of the assassination has hit the global community with a force, leaving many to wonder, where does Haiti go from here? Many from the Haitian diaspora are wanting to lend their support but are unsure of how.

Between Father Cosby getting released from prison on a technicality to Phylicia Rashad almost getting canceled for tweeting in solidarity of Cosby to track star Sha'Carri Richardson getting booted from the Olympics off some Zaza and Wendy Williams coming for Black America's sweetheart Tabitha Brown, we the Black Community had too much to keep up with.
