  • 'Unity'

After the failed assassination attempt on President Donald Trump over the weekend, in which one of his supporters was killed, many leaders in the Democratic Party finally spoke out to condemn the violence at his rallies. In 2016, at many of the campaign events that Donald Trump held, there was violence. His supporters were hunted down as they left the rallies and beaten, simply for attending a campaign event. In 2020, when Trump ran for reelection, there were fewer campaign events because of Covid-19. Trump was forced to have a small event at the White House to accept the nomination. Again, his supporters were attacked and beaten in the streets of the capital. Now that a Trump supporter has been killed Democrats are finally speaking out against this violence. If these Democrats had spoken out when this violence started 8 years ago could it have prevented the tragedy at the rally on Saturday? • 'Bunker Boy'

The Black Lives Matter (BLM) protests that began in the summer of 2020 were violent and destructive. The violence and economic terrorism started in Minneapolis, but what happen there became the model for the protests as they spread nationwide. For some reason, President Trump became the target of the violence and BLM protestors attacked the White House. They set fires in Lafayette Square and attempted to burn down St. John's church, which is located across from the White House. The violence was so intense at one point that Secret Service was forced to rush the President of the United States to his underground bunker. Democrats made fun of him, calling him 'Bunker Boy'. Why was the violent attack on the White House not treated with the same seriousness as the violent attack on the Capitol six months later? • 'Bipartisan'

The House Select Committee that investigated the January 6 riot at the Capitol after the 2020 election is often referred to as a 'bipartisan' commission, but the Democrat Majority Leader, Nancy Pelosi appointed every member of the commission, even the two Republicans. The Republican minority selected no members to serve on the commission after Pelosi rejected members that they wanted on the committee. After that she appointed the only two Republicans who had voted with Democrats to create the committee, and then she continued to call it "bipartisan". Both of the Republicans that were appointed by Pelosi were later censured by the rest of the Republican caucus, and they lost their seats in Congress for their role in the commission, so was it really a 'bipartisan' commission? • 'Republic'

Those who hate the Electoral College also hate our republic, because there would be no United States without the Electoral College. The Connecticut Compromise and Electoral College are the only reason the 13 different states could unite and come to an agreement to ratify the Constitution and create a new nation. These two previsions prevent small, less populated states from becoming the subjects of the larger, more populated states. It is what gives the minority in this country a voice. Many people today would like to get rid of the Electoral College and choose the president by a popular vote, moving us closer to a direct democracy. If that ever happens this will no longer be the United States of America. What does it mean to live in a republic, and how is it different from a direct democracy? • 'Concede'

One of the most important events in United States presidential elections is the concession speech. After months of campaigning in an emotional quest for power, it is the concession speech that tells the losing candidate's staffers and supporters, "It's over, and it's time to unite behind the new president." It defeats the purpose of the concession speech if after conceding you tell your millions of supporters to "resist" the new president. President Trump gets a lot of criticism for not conceding that he lost the 2020 election, although the same people overlook the fact that after conceding to Trump in 2016, Hillary Clinton told her supporters to resist the Trump presidency, that he was illegitimate, and that she had been robbed. How are Clinton's actions after the 2016 election similar to Trump's actions after the 2020 election? Join the conversation and get answers to this question and more on According2Sam episode #225.

  • 'Congress is the Target'

CNN fact checker, Daniel Dale fact checked President Trump after his recent debate with President Biden. One issue he claimed Trump “lied” about was on the topic of the January 6 riot at the Capitol three years ago. Trump said he offered National Guard support to then Speaker, Nancy Pelosi, but she turned the offer down. Dale claimed that Trump, as Commander in Chief, had more authority to deploy the military than Nancy Pelosi. It’s specious, because although it is true the Commander in Chief has authority over the military, the separation of powers prevents the President from sending the military to another branch of government without a formal request. Why did the legislative branch fail to make a formal request for National Guard assistance before the riot; despite getting an internal report stating violence was expected and Congress was the target? • Left-wing Violence

Political violence has been on the rise ever since 2015, when President Trump entered politics. As he campaigned across the country, violence was waiting for him and his supporters at many of his events, especially those in cities that were controlled by Democrats. In city after city, crowds of violent demonstrators showed up to his rallies and fought with police and attacked the people who had come to hear his message. This was left-wing violence, and instead of condemning it, Democrats and their surrogates in the media encouraged it, claiming Trump's campaign rhetoric was responsible. Why was it a big mistake for Hillary Clinton and other Democrats not to call out the violence and demand law and order, and how did their failure to do so lead to more political violence in 2020? • 'Democracy'

There has been a lot of talk about democracy and threats to democracy lately, but what is democracy? Founding father, Benjamin Franklin described it as two wolves and a lamb voting on what to have for lunch. Franklin also famously said, after the Philadelphia Convention which created the United States of America, when asked what form of government they had created, "A republic, if you can keep it." Two hundred and thirty-five years later, when the survival of the republic is at risk, Americans are debating if we even are a republic, or a democracy. CNN recently aired a segment referring to the fact that our nation is a republic as, "conspiracy theories". Is the United States a democracy, or a republic, and why is it important to know the difference? Join the conversation and get answers to these questions and more on According2Sam episode #222.

  • 'Cheap Fakes'

You may have heard of 'deepfake' videos, the process of overlaying someone else's face on a video to make it look like they are doing, or saying something they never did or said, but have you heard of 'cheap fakes'? 'Cheap Fake' videos are videos that have been edited to change the context of what really happened in the unedited video. For example, video of President Trump saying, "there were fine people, on both sides", but cuts out him saying, "I'm not talking about neo-Nazis, because they should be condemned, totally", to make it look like he is saying neo-Nazis are fine people is cheap fake. The Biden administration is claiming that recent videos that have gone viral, showing the President struggling are cheap fakes as well, and that context has been edited out. Is this true? Do these videos of Biden classify as 'cheap fakes'? Join the conversation and get answers to this question and more on According2Sam episode #221.

  • 'Meander'

CNBC anchor, Andrew Sorkin recently reported that he spoke with some CEOs who told him, off the record, that President Trump seemed to be "meandering" in a closed-door meeting they had with him. On the same day, the New York Post published a cover page with a picture of President Biden at the G7 meeting in Italy seeming to wander away from the group of other world leaders with the headline: "Meander in Chief". Behind closed doors, we are told, President Biden sharp, focused, and functioning at a high level. President Trump, on the other hand, is incoherent and meandering behind closed doors, however Trump doesn't seem to be having any of the repeated issues we witness Biden having in public. Is the media using unnamed sources to raise questions about President Trump's age to cover for questions voters are having about President Biden's age?
