You were at risk from the day you were born, you’re at risk when you got out of bed this morning when you drove to work and when you ate that bagel this morning.

From the day you were born the world has been trying to kill you.

As a leader we need to embrace risk we need to accept risks.

People fall into three categories when it comes to accomplishing something great.

1. They don’t know how to do it

2. They are afraid.

3. They want permission.

Which one are you?

The world gave you permission the day you were born.

Today were going to discuss one very valuable concept that a true leader understands deeply. It is called change.

Leaders Are Change Masters.

This is really hard for some people because changes – can be painful.

Today I want to discuss how do we empower others? How do we inspire them? How do we enroll other people into our vision, so they will help us accomplish whatever it is were going after, and at the same time help them accomplish something themselves?

Today, we are developing a transformational leader.

As a leader, we find ourselves on differing levels of leadership depending on who we are with and what we are doing.

As a parent. You are in a position of leadership with your children.

As a business executive. You are in a position of leadership with your subordinates.

As a politician. You are in a position of leadership with your constituency.

Because of our position, we are permitted to lead by those who need our leadership. However, this is fleeting. Because permission will be withdrawn if we break the trust of those we lead.

Being in a position and having permission to lead others requires us to produce an outcome.

The outcome of our vision will be congruent with our values.

Leaders Live By Values That Are Consistent With Their Vision.

And what are the values that are consistent with the vision?

The easiest way for me to answer this question is to explain the values

Being a parent, I want my children to be better off than I am.

Being a parent, I want my children to have better resources and opportunities than I did when I was their age.

Being a parent, I want my children to feel safe wherever they are.

And I want my children to accomplish great things that make them feel worthy in this world.

And the only way it was going to happen, is if I transformed who I was.

I told you that my vision is to protect our children from the emergencies and disasters that will come into their lives.

As a parent that was one of the most powerful desires, I had raising my girls. And they gave me permission to do it.

We will keep the permission level of leadership until we transform to the next level of Production. Or until we lose that permission because we have broken their trust.

I lost the trust of my oldest daughter at one time because I did something I knew was in her best interest, but she did not like it.

As the leader I did not waiver because my actions were firmly seated in my love for her. Over time My leadership position elevated to Production because my daughter recognized the outcome was the right one.

This did not happen overnight.

As a leader in your family, you must be committed to your vision. You must take whatever action is necessary to accomplish it. And you must be willing to fail.

The process will show your children what is right regardless of the consequences. And you will connect with your children on a deeper level, and they will want to be like you.
