The 2020 Atlantic Hurricane season is predicted to be above normal.

The weather guys at the Climate Prediction Center, a division of the National Weather Service predict a 60% chance of an above-normal hurricane season.

COVID-19 will impact the disaster preparedness plans that you have created, including what is in your go kit, your evacuation routes, and shelters.

Now is a good time for most reasonable people to contact your local County Office of Emergency management.

Ask them what their plan of action is based on COVID-19.

Keeping the evacuation theme in mind. Is there anyone in your group that has special needs? 

An elderly relative, friend, or neighbor? 

Someone needing special assistance or are mobility challenged.

Some things to consider.

After an emergency or disaster, you will have three options.

1. Hunker down and ride it out.

2. Evacuate to a safer place.

3. Hunker down until it is no longer safe to stay. Then Evacuate to a safer place.

Now that you have accomplished the “CONVERSATION” and have completed the evacuation plan of your home, let’s move on to bigger things.
