In “professional” wresting, villains are known as “heels”. Ironically in the Bible Story of Jacob (the man who wrestled with God) his name MEANT “deceiver” or “heel”. How do you go from being a “heel” to being declared a winner like Jacob did???

It’s the final week of Taming the Tongue, we’re serving breakfast, and this week’s episode is “Ripped from the Headlines”😃 (Not THOSE political headlines...the heartwarming ones about a guy who just wanted a case of beer...and ended up raising over a million dollars for Kids with cancer! The REST of that story (along with the amazingly prescient words of Jesus) are something you SHOULD NOT miss!

Why do they call it “putting your foot in your mouth”? Shouldn’t making a random remark that offends others be called “making a pony remark”? Whatever you call it , this week in “Taming the Tongue” we’ll learn how to PERMANENTLY avoid being “that guy”.

In 69 AD the Apostle James said: “the tongue is a flame of fire...it can set your whole life on fire, for it is set on fire from Hell itself” Sounds about right even in 2019, doesn’t it?! Even more impressive is the advice that his brother Jesus gave for
AVOIDING starting such “fires” with the things that roll off our tongues and off our thumbs...

Despite calls for civility, SOMETHING is making us more UNCIVILIZED! This week in the “Taming the Tongue” sermon series, were learning just what that SOMETHING is...and better yet..,how we can actually do SOMETHING about it!
