Transform Your Life With Steve and Pete

Activation Destroys Procrastination (Procrastination Part 2)

Listen Later

Sometimes all you need is a little momentum. In this episode, Steve and Pete discuss procrastination instigators such as overwhelm and perfectionism and share more practical tips on how to get over the hump and get activated!

Transformation Tip: mile by mile, life is a trial. Inch by inch life is a cinch.

Breaking projects down from macro to micro can help you to complete them instead of being overwhelmed

When there is too much on your plate you lose the ability to prioritize and make effective and efficient decisions

  • If you have a task and you’re procrastinating, break that task down

Perfectionism can trigger procrastination

  • Something not quite perfect is better than nothing perfect

Catastrophizing

Say out loud the worst possible outcome and hear how ridiculous it sounds. Then get moving!

Procrastination tips for projects or tasks you don’t enjoy:

  • Cluster unpleasant class
    • Pick a time to do all of your least favorite tasks and get them all done at once
  • Do the hardest thing first
    • Get it out of the way
  • Delegate
    • Get a virtual assistant
    • Use employees to help
  • Collaborating
    • Work together
    • Work in the same environment as someone for accountability
  • Just don't do it
    • Sometimes it makes sense to give it up (Not always!)

Transformation Application: Take the three lines concept discussed in the episode and apply it to a task or project in your life. Set dates for when you want to start the task, finish the task, and a progress deadline in between to help you through it.
