Philip Moore serves as the Network Director for Acts 29 Europe and he has recently been appointed as the VP for Global Networks. We spent some time catching up with him as he described the Acts 29 landscape and spoke to us about why he serves on the Acts 29 Southern-Africa board as well.  Philip reminded us that even though its a new year, and even as things change, Acts 29 continues to exists to plant Gospel-centred churches.

ARCH is the Acts 29 Resource Collaboration Hub. It is a bridge between our global church-planters as we pool our experience, knowledge and learning. Coming from Latin America, North America, Europe, Africa, the Middle East and Asia Pacific the members of the Arch team are working on the development and delivery of global content as well as the philosophy of theological education across the world.

ARCH is hoping to create, all across our global network, the training ecosystem we need to raise up, assess and deploy church-planters and church-planting teams. We will be running Arch Symposia on topics of global interest 5 times a year, aiming to equip, inform and inspire the local church in its mission.

Through the ARCH project we want to steward the gift God has given us, namely a network of interconnected, multiplying churches all over the globe.

Trevor Skead serves on the ministry staff team at Hope City Presbyterian Church - an ordinary church for ordinary people, seeking to faithfully proclaim the extraordinary hope of the Gospel in the urban center of Cape Town. He is married to Nicolette and they have two children, Anna-Grace and James.

In this episode, Trevor discusses the role of a lead pastor/planter's ministry partners, helpers, and elders and how they serve the Body Of Christ as a collective. Trevor talks to us about a number of relationships from the scriptures that remind us that church planting and pastoring is not a journey to be taken alone.

The 3rd wave of Covid-19 infections has recently hit the region of Southern Africa really hard, with the Corona virus' Delta variant being so contagious. This has resulted in a more drastic lockdown within our region, and for most, this has meant that physical church gatherings are no longer possible. It's been yet another drastic interruption that has affected so many. Even our very own podcast's schedule has had to to be tweaked and changed, and even delayed by 1 day, as we felt it important to speak about some of the challenges facing the Acts 29 Southern African community. 

So, we called up a number of our members and asked them about how they are feeling in light of this most recent lockdown. We asked them about some of the lessons they have learned over the course of this Covid-19 pandemic, and we also asked them about some of the ways that they have had to innovate ministries, so that the Gospel of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, is still easily accessible to those entrusted to their care. 

We called up brand new church-plant, planters and their wives, we called up fairly established church-plant planters and ministry workers, and we spoke to established church pastors and leaders. They spoke honestly about how they are feeling, and they shared a lot of their learnings and wisdom.

Pastor Doug Logan is Married to Angel and together they have 3 sons and 3 grandchildren. He is an associate director for Acts 29 and he has been in urban ministry for going on 25 years. In 2011, Pastor Doug and his wife Angel planted Epiphany Fellowship in Camden, New Jersey. He is the author of “On the Block: Developing a Biblical Picture for Missional Engagement”, He also founded the “On The Block Collective” and he currently serves as the president of Grimke Seminary - a Seminary which exists to train pastors and planters who are characterised by theological clarity, cultural engagement, and missional innovation..

Pastor Doug speaks to us about the importance of safe learning spaces and key relationships - mentors and encouragers - along this, often lonely, church-planting journey.

Mario is married to his darling wife Charlene and together they parent 5 beautiful children. Since 2015, Mario has served as the lead pastor at Reformed Faith Mission Community - a culturally diverse and dynamic Gospel-driven church Church in Bellville South, Cape Town South Africa.
