Actual Anarchy Podcast - AnCap Movie Reviews from a Rothbardian Perspective

Happy St. Patrick's Day non-specified gender neutral persons of unique varieties!

We celebrate the holiday with a pint of Guinness and a discussion about the movie, the Boondock Saints with Michael Tabone of www.EvolutionofEconomics.com. He also writes for us here at the site, so check out his work in both places.

This is a rousing and fun episode where we talk about vigilante justice, monopoly, ineptitude of government, licensure and permitting among other topics.

Here is the A-Team article we mentioned:

https://mises.org/blog/team-stands-anarcho-capitalism

And here is a little more background on the movie and the screenwriter/director, Troy Duffy:

In 2029 the mutant population has shrunk significantly and the X-Men have disbanded. Logan, whose power to self-heal is dwindling, has surrendered himself to alcohol and now earns a living as a chauffeur. He takes care of the ailing old Professor X whom he keeps hidden away.

We bring on special guest, the Afro Libertarian Ryan Jones to nerd-out with us and talk about the "Wolverine movie that fans of Wolverine have been waiting for."

So many questions come from this movie that we go for nearly two hours.

Needless to say - SPOILERS!

The site includes books, lectures, articles, speeches, and we make a weekly podcast based on his free-market approach to economics. Our focus is on education and how advancement in technology improves the living standards of the average person.

The Actual Anarchy Podcast is all about Maximum Freedom. We look at movies and current events from a Rothbardian Anarchist perspective. If it's voluntary, we're cool with it. If it's not, then it violated the Non-Aggression Principle and Property Rights - the core tenants of Libertarian Theory - and hence - human freedom.

In what will definitely not be considered a pro-tourism film for the country of Indonesia, we discuss the horrors on display in the film, the Act of Killing. The documentary follows a few of the executioners from the Indonesian genocide, where more than a million people were slaughtered, as they recreate their crimes to make a film of their own celebrating their actions some 45 years later. The true horror here is the mindset that these killers have maintained for half a lifetime and only through reliving the experience do they even begin to manifest humanity are repentance for their actions.

We bring on special guest, Hinton Bowers who will be contributing as a writer for this site to talk about this movie, which was his suggestion for this show.

Look for articles from Hinton here in the coming weeks.

In a blatant attempt to ride the coattails of the new Logan movie, we bring on comic book creator, Jamie Sherman to discuss Wolverine and the work that he does in his own project, The Voluntaryist. We meander through a history of both characters and talk some self-defense scenarios. It's a good conversation that we hope you enjoy.

We take the President's Day holiday as an opportunity to examine America's favorite president as depicted by Daniel Day-Lewis in Steven Spielberg's Lincoln. Let's just say that a Rothbardian Anarcho-Capitalist perspective is not kind to old "honest" Abe.

We have a special guest, Actual Anarchy contributor, Rex Gazer. Look for articles from him on the site soon; and once he launches his own, we will push it vigorously.

From the film, we see our hero avoiding peace by delay; thus prolonging the war. Visiting the wounded (A saint!). They depict Lincoln as a deity.

I like how they painted the guy who called out Lincoln for jailing journalists, suspending habeus corpus and acting like a dictator as a smug, virulent racist. Thus, his arguments are automatically invalid.

Later in the movie, Lincoln slapped his son. That's assault brother.

Here are a few articles to review:
