We seem to have an inbuilt need to assign blame. We don’t have the ability to assume responsibility for shortcomings.
So, who can we blame when things go wrong?
Is prayer the answer? Do we need to pray? Should we pray? Why pray? How should we pray?
For many of us pray is a bit of a mystery. Similarly, for many prayer is an essential part of life.
But what is prayer?
In a previous Podcast we talked about how we could connect with God, however we didn't really ask if God could really speak to us and, if it were possible, how?
Why would God, this all knowing, all powerful being who watches over us, answers our prayers and guides each individual being, send someone else down to Earth to deal with us?
We humans are a funny bunch, we like evidence. Well, many of us do.
Some of us still take things on faith, however this seems to be on the decline. Personally, I think this is a good thing.
This desire for evidence does present us with a number of problems however. Evidence is not always available for many of the mysteries around us.
So what then?
Can we connect with God?
And what exactly do I mean when I say “connect?
We have an ability to see, hear, smell, feel, interpret, consider, analyse, believe and conclude. We cannot do many of these as well as other animals who inhabit this planet and we can do others far better.
Does this help?
If God is this all powerful, omnipresent being then we'd have to be rather arrogant to believe that God is only interested in us and our tiny lives.
We must, therefore, believe that God exists throughout the universe. Is this right?
See actually.net.au, learn to believe in belief.
“Actually …” is a small book that offers some big ideas. In this Podcast we look at one aspect and that of who “God” really is. A Parent, a Grandparent or an Aunty or Uncle? What's your belief?
