This week we open on something that cannot be unseen once you see it — guys who date girls who look like their family members. You know who you are. We are not naming names.

Then we get into the Devil Wears Prada era war stories. The time she threw a sweater at a coworker and said hey bitch wrap this like it was a normal thing to do. The office tradition of hiding in boxes and trash bags to jump scare each other that escalated faster than anyone anticipated. Getting pulled into HR for only talking about Billy Joel with the one person who got it. No regrets on any of it.

Then she girls out for exactly as long as she needs to about getting her nails done, requesting lilac milky chrome, sitting through four consecutive rounds of pink, and accidentally being mistaken for a celebrity because she showed up to the salon looking like she had absolutely nowhere to be and somehow that was enough.

NASA sent back photos of Earth from space and somewhere in those photos there is a girl overanalyzing a text from a mediocre man. Liz has thoughts. She also danced to Sk8er Boi alone in her living room and has no regrets.

A girl who accidentally sent a 12 minute voice note rating her date to the actual date. A birthday dinner that lost a guest over a boyfriend named Tyler. The first man has officially taken a seat on the Actually Not Dumb couch, and it had to be him. Xavier, aka X, is my husband, my best friend, and the person who is somehow both the easiest and hardest person to schedule as a guest despite living in the same apartment.

We have been together for 10 years, married for two, and met as co-workers at the most iconic department store in New York City. We cover all of it: what it actually takes to stay together through your entire 20s, why we don't think marriage is that hard, how communication is the only real secret, and what the brand Viktor and Rolf has to do with our love story and our dog.

The first full episode of Actually Not Dumb is here, and we are not starting slow. I called in two of my closest girls, Keely and Kelly, two smart, beautiful, single women navigating dating in New York City. Welcome to Actually Not Dumb, the podcast where we overthink everything so you don't have to.

I'm Liz Lindenmeier, a New York City-based entrepreneur, chronic overthinker, and certified yapper. Before landing on this white couch, I built two businesses: Lit & Lean (a nightlife-inspired silent disco workout) and Coffee & Chill (a social wellness events community bringing 100–1,000 people together in NYC). Both gave me a mic. Neither let me truly just talk.

So here we are.

Actually Not Dumb is the space for all the thoughts you're too embarrassed to say out loud, the life decisions, the situationships, the crash-outs, the "that was actually kind of dumb but it got me exactly where I needed to be" moments.
