Life can be so delicate on one hand and if not properly cared for and loved and become deeply effected by our environment. Sammy grew up in a unsafe environment and had to deal with her mother continuously getting involved in bad relationships that put Sammy and her siblings in a harmful and traumatic situation. Sammy was victim and witnessed years of abuse from the men that her mother was involved with and she never felt safe or secure. She also was the oldest and took on a feeling of responsibility to take care of her siblings starting when she was just 6 years old. So while life can be delicate and fragile, life can also be resilient and strong… like Sammy - she has evolved into a voice of awareness and understanding. She is not repeating the destructive patterns that she was raised in but rather she has become a beacon of light and love with a goal to make the world a safer and better place. Alex grew up in low income area of Chicago and it is because of his surroundings that he decided early on to move up and out of the neighborhood through educating himself and working super hard. Alex has been working two jobs to make the income he needed to move to a nicer neighborhood but one of the jobs began to change and wasn’t in alignment with his values and aspirations.
