When Coronavirus swept through the world and upended life as everyone knew it, 2020 very quickly became the year that on one hand was devastating, challenging and for many heartbreaking; but Burnie had an epiphany, he was going to turn 2020 on it’s head and re-invent himself. He looked at the year as an opportunity. He might be taking a financial hit but it was all of a sudden clear that this was a moment in time that is an opportunity to do whatever he wanted to do, squash any fear that he might have had in the past and answer his calling. Burnie talks about creating more music and living life through a new lens. Every moment was like this but it took a challenging event for him to see that he always had all the potential within to do what he wanted. December 20, 2020Rick: Living with PurposeToday Rick called in to share his story about fear and following through with your ambitions, goals and dreams. Rick had a very successful corporate career but one thing that he always wanted to do in life was write and publish a book. He received early feedback from his professors that his ideas where good but he wasn’t clear enough in expressing them in writing. This lead him to doubt himself and defer this goal of becoming an author. Rick talks about reading a guide on how to publish a book in 90 days and in that moment it crystallized for himself that he was going to do it. He told his family and friends and at that point he was committed. Rick shares so many valuable thoughts on setting your purpose statement and using it as a guiding compass to help steer you in the direction that aligns the outer world with your inner truths. Rick talks about creating a deliberate practice, seeking continuous improvement in life, being open to feedback and criticism and how we can all achieve our best selves if we choose to embrace the confidence to face our fears. December 18, 2020Tashika: The importance of forgiving ourselves and empathyToday Tashika called in to share her story of dealing with fear and postpartum depression and anxiety. Tashika talks about feeling like she was on an emotional rollercoaster. She felt like she had no out and because she had a family that depended on her she felt ashamed for having the emotions that she was feeling. This caused her to feel even worse about herself, like she was not giving enough and she was supposed to be giving more. Tashika talks about getting help, finding a community for support, and her journey of healthy living. She talks about recognizing the feelings and being able to identify how she is feeling as an important step in improving how she handles situations when she is feeling down. She is doing things for herself that makes her feel good like eating healthy, exercising, modeling, becoming a talent agent for others and tapping into outlets that fuel her spirit and soul. Tashika talks about the importance of being more empathetic to ourselves and find the things that we can control in our lives and release the things that we can’t.
