On today's episode, we meet Family Connections' ADAPT Coalition's LGBTQ+ Committee Chairperson Jason Dotson! Jason is also the Director of LGBTQ Services for the North Jersey Community Research Initiative (NJCRI) and the former Manager of the Newark Pride Center.
It's important to have Jason on during Pride Season in order to make sure we understand the history of the LGBTQ+ community and that we don't delegate Pride to just a month! Jason combines his deep insight and knowledge with his passion to serve our community and its residents.
Join us as we learn about and from Jason and gain some perspectives on the importance of being culturally competent to LGBTQ+ residents in Essex County and beyond! It's much more than just calling yourself an ally!

Jenna joins us to discuss her experiences with Family Connections' ADAPT Coalition and her recommendations for teens to enjoy a safe and healthy summer. A few weeks ago, we got the opportunity to hear from an adult coalition member about tips and strategies to have a safe prom and graduation season. This time, we have the honor of hearing from one of our Incorruptible.Essex Youth Leaders, Darnesha Dullys, on a similar topic. Darnesha shares the challenges our youth are facing during the pandemic and some recommendations to ensure teens enjoy a safe and healthy prom, formal, and graduation season.
Many times, the adults need to just stay quiet and listen to their future leaders. This episode is one of those opportunities. Listen and enjoy!

We all know that it's been a difficult time to support ourselves and our loved ones, especially as it pertains to our mental health and wellness, during the pandemic. This week, we are joined by Ms. Ratna Joshi-Nelson Family Coordinator of CarePlus New Jersey's Family Support Center as she discusses these struggles and resources available for families of an individual dealing with a substance use disorder.

It's that time of year again! High school seniors and their families are making final preparations for Prom and Graduation season. As restrictions start lifting in our state, it is important that teens and parents have tangible, realistic recommendations to reduce risk and harm during this season. We all need to work together to prevent underage drinking/substance use and make sure our children stay safe.
Learn some tangible tips from Ms. Jaclyn Headlam, Student Assistance Counselor and Anti-Bullying Specialist for West Orange High School. Jaclyn provides some great insight into her profession and gives you tips for a safe and healthy prom and graduation season.
