How does God respond when His people persistently reject Him, and is there still a way back?

On May 2nd, we walked through 2 Kings 17 and saw the slow progression of a broken relationship with God, not a sudden fall, but a gradual drift into compromise, resistance, and distance.

But it leaves us with a question we cannot ignore:
