With the 2020 general election on the horizon, we turn our attention to voting and progressive politics for today’s show with Jane Kleeb, chair of the Nebraska Democratic Party and author of the new book Harvest the Vote: How Democrats Can Win Again in Rural America.

She and Patty spend the hour discussing issues facing rural voters, including the rural response to coronavirus and voting during a pandemic, support for universal healthcare, mental health and suicides among farmers and ranchers, natural disaster response, environmental activism, gerrymandering and redistricting, and much more—all while emphasizing the need to reject stereotypes about rural voters and practice active listening in politics.
