Workers at public universities across Ghana have announced their detachment from the national union, the Teachers and Educational Workers’ Union (TEWU) of the Trades Union Congress (TUC). The association, now formally known as the Tertiary Education Workers’ Union of Ghana (TEWU-GH), says it has run out of patience with the lackadaisical and irresponsible attitude of the national leadership of TEWU-TUC.

The British High Commissioner has reacted to Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Dr Akuffo Dampare’s response to her tweet about the arrest of FixTheCountry’s Oliver Barker-Vormawor. Speaking in an interview on GHone on Tuesday, Madam Harriet Thompson stated that she did not expect a response from the IGP at all.

Thunder has struck and killed a 17-year-old male student of the Sokode Senior High School in the Volta Region. The incident which happened near the regional capital, Ho, during heavy rain in the late hours of Monday, killed the victim who has been identified as Emmanuel Dorli.

Six suspects who were arrested during the New Patriotic Party (NPP) delegates conference at the Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium on Friday have been granted bail. The suspects who gained unlawful entry to the premises have been granted GH¢50,000 bail with one surety each while investigations continue.

The Speaker of Parliament, Alban Kingsford Sumana Bagbin has said Parliament is broke and has no money to run the business of the House. This, he said was due to the delay by the Ministry of Finance to release the needed funds to Parliament.

The Western North Regional functional executive committee of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has suspended its Sehwi Wiawso constituency chairman, Kwaku Shaibu, for illegally selling membership replacement cards to non-members. He was also suspended on the charges of selling party cards to his favourites, which is not his duty, as well as refusal to hand over fake 500 party cards in his possession.

Some members of the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) are moving to secure a Cape Coast High Court ruling to prevent the party in Ekumfi constituency from organising its Central Region delegates conference. This comes as the NPP prepares to elect regional executives at the conference.

A suspect who was involved in a daylight street robbery at Dansoman in Accra has been arrested by the Police. Another suspect, who was involved in the robbery and is currently on the run, is being pursued by the Police.
