Hey there! My name is Allie and I am a Chinese transracial adoptee therapist (whoa a lot of words there) who discovered that adoption impacted my life in so many ways. It is a unique experience to be in and sometimes it feels there are not many others who can relate, thus I didn't really talk about these things until I found someone who "got it". Keeping these struggles on the inside also creates a layer of shame and guilt that makes it that more difficult to talk about them. This podcast started off as a project for the Kentucky Counselor Association and I didn't expect it to continue past three episodes. But then I realized that stories like mine are important and being able to hear them for what they are without judgement helps take away some of the shame and guilt as mentioned before. This podcast is about international adoptees stories and voices that haven't had much of a platform before but that doesn't mean they are any less important.
