"봄바람 휘날리며 흩날리는 벚꽃 잎이 울려 퍼질 이 거리를 둘이 걸어요."

3인조 밴드 버스커 버스커가 2012년 봄 발매한 1집 타이틀 곡 "벚꽃엔딩"의 한 소절입니다.

이 곡은 매년 봄이 되면 음원차트를 역주행 하며 인기를 끕니다. 그래서 아티스트에게 봄마다 지급되는 일명 "벚꽃연금"이라고 불릴 만큼 많은 이들의 사랑을 받는 봄노래입니다.

이렇듯 길가 여기저기에서 벚꽃을 소재로 한 노래들이 들려올 때면 어느덧 시리던 겨울이 가고 바야흐로 봄이라는 걸 느끼게 됩니다.

그리고 봄을 알리는 대명사 벚꽃은 추웠던 겨울의 한기를 몰아내며 푸근해진 봄기운을 한껏 만끽할 수 있는 풍경을 자아냅니다.

자, 그럼 한국 어디에서 벚꽃이 그려낸 봄의 향연을 즐길 수 있는지 알아보도록 할까요?

2018년 4월 1일부터 10일까지 열흘간 경상남도 창원시에서 진해 군항제가 열립니다. 36만 그루의 왕벚나무 경관에 더불어 다양한 문화예술행사를 즐길 수 있는 벚꽃축제입니다. 국내 벚꽃 1번지라고도 불리는 대표명소입니다.

철길 따라 심은 왕벚나무가 만개하여 황홀한 벚꽃 터널을 이루는 경화역, 그리고 물길 따라 핀 벚꽃이 색색 조명과 함께 어우러지는 여좌천은 진해 군항제에서 빠질 수 없는 코스입니다.

수도권에서는 석촌호수 벚꽃축제와 여의도 봄꽃축제가 벚꽃 명소로 손꼽힙니다.

석촌호수변을 따라 심어진 왕벚꽃이 벚꽃 터널을 만들며, 그 옆에 롯데월드와 롯데타워가 위치하고 있어 야경 또한 일품입니다.

여의도 봄꽃 축제에서는 한강변으로 만개하는 왕벚나무를 비롯해서 진달래, 개나리, 철쭉 등 다양한 봄꽃을 감상할 수 있습니다.

그 외에도 4월 7일에서 8일까지 이틀간 열리며 지리산 향토음식을 맛볼 수 있는 화개장터 벚꽃축제, 강원도 경포대 벚꽃길, 경주 보문 관광단지 등을 비롯한 국내 각지에서 벚꽃을 즐길 수 있습니다.

이번 봄엔 사랑하는 사람들과 봄노래를 들으며 흐드러지게 핀 벚꽃으로 수놓은 길목을 거닐어 보는건 어때요?

"As the spring wind blows. The scattering cherry blossom petals. Spread out on this street. As we walk together."

These are a few lines of the song "Cherry Blossom Ending", which is the title track of the first album released by a band of three members—Busker Busker—in Spring 2012.

Around this season, the song gets super popular to the point of it being boosted up to the high ranks on charts. So some say this song is like a pension given to the artist every spring, a.k.a. cherry blossom pension.

So when we start hearing songs about cherry blossoms played in the street, then we realize chilly winter has passed and the spring is now in the air.

And cherry blossoms, which make the spring obvious, bring forth a gorgeous scene full of warm spring breeze which drives the cold out of the air.

Well, then why don't we take a look at some places in Korea where we can enjoy the spring feast painted by cherry blossoms?

The Jinhae Gunhangje Festival, which is held for ten days, starts April 1, 2018 in Changwon-si, Gyeongsangnam-do. This is a cherry blossom festival where visitors may enjoy the landscape of 360 thousand cherry blossom trees, along with various cultural shows and events. This festival is widely known as the No.1 cherry blossom sight in Korea.

Gyeonghwa Station, where cherry blossom trees are planted alongside the railway, forms a mind-blowing cherry blossom tunnel and Yeojwacheon, where cherry blossoms gets mingled with colorful lamps along the stream in the evening, are two must-go-and-see scenic points of the Jinhae Gunhangje Festival.

Seokchonhosu Lake Cherry Blossom Festival and Yeouido Spring Flower Festival are counted as top cherry blossom sights in the capital area.

King cherry trees planted along the Seokchon lakeside track create a cherry blossom tunnel, and the Lotte World Amusement Park and Lotte Tower beside the lake adds beauty to the night view.

At the Yeouido Spring Flower Festival, you may enjoy a wide variety of spring flowers—including King cherry blossoms, royal azeleas, forsythia, azaleas, etc.—elegantly decorating the the Han River.

Also, there are many other locations to enjoy cherry blossoms in Korea, including Hwagae Market Cherry Blossom Festival—which is held two days, on April 7 and April 8, and has local cuisine of Jirisan for you to try—, Gyeongpodae cherry blossom street in Gangwon-do, and Bomun Pavilion of Gyeongju.
