비트코인, 이더리움, 리플 등등...

근래 국내에서 화제가 되며 연일 기사화되고 있는 암호화폐 중 가장 거래가 활발한 화폐 종류들입니다.

흔히 가상화폐라고도 불리는 암호화폐는 일반 화폐와 달리 각국 정부나 중앙은행이 발행 및 거래내역을 관리하는 것이 아니라, 처음 고안한 사람이 정한 규칙에 따라 가치가 매겨지고 블록체인 기술을 기반으로 거래됩니다.

2009년 1월 발행이 되었고 국내 암호화폐 열풍의 중심에 있었던 비트코인을 한 번 살펴볼까요?

이 암호화폐는 성능이 좋은 컴퓨터로 수학 문제를 풀때 발행이 되며 이 과정을 '채굴'이라고 일컫습니다. 이후 컴퓨터나 모바일기기에 지갑을 설치하고 비트코인 주소를 만들어 거래를 진행할 수 있습니다.

암호화폐는 거래비용과 소요시간이 절감되고, 블록체인기술을 기반으로 하여 강력한 보안이 유지된다는 장점이 있지만,

계좌 소유자에 대한 정보가 공개되지 않아 암시장에서 마약거래나 도박, 혹은 비자금조성을 위한 돈세탁에 악용될 수 있고,

가격 등락폭이 크며, "김치 프리미엄"이라는 말이 생길 만큼 한국 시장에서 암호화폐 투기가 비이성적으로 과열되고 있다는 전문가들의 의견이 모여 정부의 규제가 시급하다는 목소리가 컸습니다.

이에 따라 정부는 2017년 12월 28일 "가상통화 특별대책"을 발표하였으며, 가상통화 거래 실명제를 실시하여 거래 투명성을 제고하고, 가상통화 관련 범죄 집중 단속 및 엄중 처벌을 진행할 것임을 밝혔습니다.

한국사회여론연구소가 지난 1월 전국 성인 1,033명을 대상으로 '암호화폐 규제 찬반'을 놓고 조사를 실시한 결과 69.7%의 응답자가 "정부의 가상화폐 규제 강화방안"에 찬성한다고 답하였습니다.

하지만 타당하지 않은 가상화폐 규제로 한국 경제가 쇠퇴하는 것을 원하지 않는다는 의견에서 비롯된 가상화폐규제반대 청원에 동참한 이가 수십만 명이 넘어 한국의 암호화폐 시장의 동향을 예의주시 하지 않을 수 없습니다.

한국 시장에서 열풍을 불어일으켰던 암호화폐에 대한 여러분의 생각은 어떠신가요?

These are the most actively traded cryptocurrency which have become a hot topic in Korea recently.

Cryptocurrency is often also referred to as virtual currency, and unlike flat money that is issued and regulated by the government or central banks, its value is set by the one who developed it, and it is traded based on blockchain technology.

Why don't we take a look at one that was issued in January of 2009 and caused the cryptocurrency fever — Bitcoin?

Bitcoin is issued when a supercomputer solves a math problem, and this process is termed "mining." Then a user may install a Bitcoin wallet on a computer or a mobile device, create an address, and proceed with transactions.

Advantages of cryptocurrency are that it reduces the transfer fee and time consumed, and that it is also safely secured since it is built upon blockchain technology.

However, there exists the danger of its misuse in criminal activities — such as drug trading, gambling, and money laundering — to create slush funds due to the inherent anonymity.

Also, the price is highly volatile, and experts have found that Korea's market is abnormally overheated with the cryptocurrency investment, even to the point of having the expression "Kimchi premiums," and as a result, many have said it is urgent that the government steps in with the right regulations for cryptocurrency.

In turn, on December 28th 2017, the Korean Government enacted a new cryptocurrency regulation and announced that they will require traders to use real-name accounts in order to increase transparency and enforce an intensive crackdown and corresponding punishment on cryptocurrency-related crimes.

Korea Society Opinion Institute (KSOI) surveyed 1,033 adult Korean citizens in January on "cryptocurrency regulation Pros vs. Cons," and 69.7% answered they support the "intensified government regulations on cryptocurrency."

Nevertheless, the petition against Cryptocurrency Regulations, which was started with concerns on its negative effect on the Korean economy, clocked over a few hundred thousand signatures, so the KSOI could not help but keep a close eye on how things turn out with cryptocurrency in Korea.
