Además, ha sido presidente de la Sociedad Latinoamericana de Nutrición (SLAN), director fundador del Centro de Investigación en Nutrición y Salud en el INSP, miembro del Comité Directivo de Prevención de Obesidad/Mundo, y miembro del Panel de Expertos de Alto Nivel sobre Seguridad Alimentaria y Nutrición (HLPE).
Con una trayectoria de más de 30 años de labor ininterrumpida en el campo de la investigación, durante los cuales ha estado al frente de instituciones como el Instituto Nacional de Salud Pública, es un personaje clave en muchas de las legislaciones actuales acerca de los aspectos alimentarios de los mexicanos.

Dr. Rivera Donmaro is an Executive Board member of the International Association of National Public Health Institutes (IANPHI), a member of The EAT-Lancet Commission, a member of the National Academy of Medicine of Mexico, member of the American Society for Nutrition and, Board Directors´ Member of the Pact for Early Childhood. Also, he has been President of the Latin American Society of Nutrition (SLAN), founding director of the Center for Nutrition and Health Research at INSP, member of the World Obesity/Public Prevention Steering Committee, and member of the High-Level Panel of Experts on Food Security and Nutrition (HLPE).
With more than 30 years of uninterrupted work in the field of research, Dr. Rivera has headed institutions such as the National Institute of Public Health and is a crucial figure in many of the current legislations regarding Mexican food aspects.
