“The Obedient Heart”

In today’s reading from Matthew 2:19-23, we see Joseph once again respond in obedience as God leads his family out of Egypt and eventually to Nazareth. Amid uncertain circumstances and changing plans, Joseph models a heart of submission to God, trusting Him even when the outcomes remain unclear. His actions remind us that true obedience flows from trust in God’s wisdom and His ultimate good plans for us.

Just as Mary responded to God with humility and trust, Joseph mirrors that same surrender, rising and going wherever God directs—even when the journey doesn’t make sense. This same obedience is asked of us, not because the way is easy, but because God’s ways are always rooted in His love and care for us.
