Christmas Eve service.

This Sunday, we're taking a short break from our series in 1 Peter to look together at the Christmas story in Luke 2:8–20. I don't always step away from our regular text on Christmas—in fact, I usually don't—but this passage felt especially fitting. It's also one of my personal favorites: shepherds out in the fields at night, watching their flocks, when the radiant glory of heaven suddenly breaks open above them.

With Pastor Josh taking a well-deserved break this week, I am glad to be returning to the pulpit to open God's Word with you. This Sunday morning we'll be looking at Jesus' Transfiguration, where he briefly appeared in his divine glory before Peter, James, and John. Since Pastor Josh is right in middle of a series working through Peter's letters, I thought we could pause to consider a unique moment in Peter's life that certainly influenced his later ministry.
