The 1990 General Conference in session voted the Global Mission initiative with one primary task – to start new Seventh-day Adventist congregations in unreached areas. In the past 20 years, the church has grown from 6 million to nearly 17 million.

Today Haiti seems a completely different environment from what it once was. The recent earthquake has simply devastated the country. Even through the tragedy, the Seventh-day Adventist church in Haiti is growing.
