Here Are Five False Beliefs (Lies) That We Believe About Our Giants
Just like David in the Bible, we all have giants that we need to slay in order to live the lives we are destined to live. Here are five lies that we believe about our giants that cause us to experience less than the very best:
1. Our Giants Have No Real Impact On Our Lives We believe the lie that these giants do not actually impact us. We believe that they leave us alone and mind their own business. We think that they have productive lives as respected citizens and really mean us no harm. We ignore them and try to move about our lives. We suffer from subconscious intimidation and fears that are rooted in the fact that we don't confront these giants. What we could experience in life never manifests because we end up blaming the limitation in our lives on things that have nothing to do with these giants.
2. Our Giants Will Leave Us & Our Lands Alone
We believe the lie that these giants will leave us and our lands alone. We think that they are too busy with their own agendas. We think that if we keep quiet maybe they won't notice us. We imagine that if we simply cover our eyes or bury our heads in the sand that they will move about their business without targeting us. As we build our lives without concern for them they will sabotage us at every turn. There will be no actual impact of lasting results because the giants will knock over whatever we build. No one will benefit from what we could offer because these giants will block it every day.
3. Someone Else Is Going To Slay My Giant For Me
We believe the lie that someone else is going to slay our giants for us. We think that other people are either responsible to take them out or that we are entitled to having this done for us. We sit back and hope that the deliverance comes and we end up watching the giants wreck everything in our lives. We will become angry and bitter when no one comes to save the day. The results will be terrible and we will ruin relationships. Our lives will become isolated and we will end up a fragment of what we could be.
4. We Can Live In The Land Of Others Who Have Slain Their Giants
We believe the lie that we can live in the land of others who have slain their giants. It’s more comfortable to go and find a plot of land in an already cleared place. We fear conflict and seek the path of least resistance and because the lands that have already been cleared seem available, we set up shop. While we may be able to vacation in these lands for a temporary window, we will soon realize that our roots will never be able to go deep for permanent residence. We won’t ever fully manifest the potential we have until we enter our own lands which has been designed for us.
5. We Do Not Have To Face Our Giants
We believe the lie that we do not have to face our giants. We think that our success will manifest as we tip toe around the beasts that seek to consume our future. If we can predict where they will be we can plan our schedules around theirs and never have to face them directly. The treasures that are awaiting us under the noses of these giants will be forbidden to us. We will forever eat the scraps of our potential and never feast on what could truly be in our possession. There will be a gnawing regret that our lives could have been so much more if we would have simply faced our giants.
