In this episode, Bob and guest, Amy Leep, BSN & Founder of Comply Services, LLC, dive into the importance of person-centered care. This is intended to learn about the individual being helped and what techniques are going to work best for them.
Amy helps organizations with this by studying a facility and identifying what policies may or may not be in place for people with specific impairments to ensure that each organization has things in place to support residents with various types of behaviors or needs. It is crucial for facilities and personnel at them to realize and be conscious of the various diseases that can affect each elder they serve, and maintain specific skillsets and practices to establish relationships and trust within their center.

Rethinking health and fitness for seniors - it's saving lives!
On this interesting and fun episode of Advice From Your Advocates, Bob sat down with Jennifer Joyner who is a Health and Wellness Program Coordinator at Valley Area Agency on Aging. Jennifer is also a certified Arthritis Instructor through the Arthritis Foundation and certified with Silver Sneakers as an instructor. She has been teaching the evidence-based disease exercise program to seniors across mid-Michigan. If there's anyone that knows the impact staying active can have on seniors, it's Jennifer Joyner.
The Silver Sneakers program is a popular fitness program that offers fun and interactive classes for a variety of seniors throughout local senior centers and select locations like churches in other counties. It's covered by insurance to keep costs away from the senior.

Elisa Bosley, a licensed non-denominational Chaplin based in Colorado, met with host Attorney Bob Mannor to discuss the lack of faith-based resources for those facing Dementia, Alzheimer's disease or memory loss.
With decades of experience leading worship and bible studies, Elisa founded Spiritualeldercare.com and subsequently her YouTube Channel.
Elisa explains the differences between religious care and spiritual care as well as what those differences can mean for the person with Dementia. The impact of spiritual care revolves around the familiarity and repetition of practice that elders with Dementia can lean into their long-term memory.
Items like songs, scripture, and poems offer opportunities for these individuals to participate in something they know and provide a sense of community and familiarity.

On this episode of Advice From Your Advocates, Bob sat down with Craig Goldenfarb, Esq. who is a personal injury attorney with a practice based in Florida to discuss defibrillators and the charity that he founded through his advocacy work; Heart of the Game, Inc.
Craig was inspired to start his charity through all the cases that he has covered throughout the US on the niche topic. He stated that 350-400,000 people will suffer from sudden cardiac arrest and ultimately pass away each year. Of those, up to ten thousand cases per year are kids, who often have a congenital heart defect that they didn’t know existed. Craig knew further action needed to be taken to help prevent some of these cases and founded Heart of the Game, Inc. to provide free defibrillators and training on CPR throughout his personal state of Florida. At present, he has given away over 40 devices.
