Hola Hola! We are back for another episode of Conversaciones con Colegas: Season 3. This episode digs into the work that Kaila Stovall has been doing in her hometown of New Braunfels, Texas. Kaila is a mom, high school teacher, and is now also running for a position on her children’s school board. Kaila continually advocates for her students beyond the classroom, and hopes that her position on the board will allow her to fight for equity within the classroom and in education.

Our hope and vision for our podcast is to elevate the voices and needs of educators and students, especially those voices which are often silenced or overlooked. Kaila’s work aligns with LatinXChange because she is advocating for equity for students within the classrooms that are not given the proper support and services to support their language development. Bilingual students should be receiving instruction to elevate their voices and the strengths they already have. As Kaila has noticed these injustices, she has decided to run for her school board to be able to advocate for change.
