It has been a couple of months between podcasts and because footy never sleeps, The Traders found some time in their relaxing off-season to catch up and talk AFL Fantasy. Plenty has happened since Roy, Calvin and Warnie celebrated their Fantasy Mad Monday including Richmond breaking their 37-year drought, taking out the 2017 flag.

The trade period was a busy time with 28 players finding new homes. The boys discuss each move and what it could mean for their Fantasy prospects, including for those around them and those they've left behind.

Roy's favourite, Tom Rockliff, will be pulling on the teal, black and white jumper next year as the next stage of his career sees him as a Port Adelaide player. The point scoring potential of the Fantasy Pig in his new colours is discussed at length.

Following its release last week, the 2018 fixture has a range of Fantasy implications. The three multi-bye rounds are back as is the China game that will require some extra thinking for coaches. Seven Thursday night games will see partial lockouts and the elongated Anzac Round will add some challenges for team selection in round five.

The pre-season may have started for a few Fantasy coaches already, but it will be in full swing in December when the new prices and positions begin to be revealed. AFL Fantasy for 2018 is expected to launch in late-January.

It was 23 weeks ago that we all thought we had picked the best AFL Fantasy Classic possible team under the $11M salary cap or drafted the best team against our mates in Fantasy Draft.

For most of us, we learned on the weekend that indeed, our Classic side wasn't that great and it was the mate who nailed his Draft side and was first to hunt the free agents who won the league Grand Final.

Selby Lee-Steere walks away as the champion of AFL Fantasy Classic for 2017 after his side, Moreira's Magic racked up 50,909 points for the year.

The Traders caught up with the jubilant coach on this week's episode of the podcast.

After 22 weeks, 45 trades and thousands of Fantasy points added up it all comes down to this last game of the season for the two combatants featuring in your respective league grand finale.

What do you do with your two trades this week?

Chasing players with a favourable match-up is a preferred move. During the last three weeks, North Melbourne, Fremantle, Gold Coast, West Coast and Fremantle have been giving up the most Fantasy points. Their opponents this week, in order, are Brisbane Lions, Essendon, Port Adelaide, Adelaide and Collingwood.

The Traders discuss the best moves to make so you can claim the bragging rights that will last all summer by being your league's champion.

Round 22 is the preliminary finals weekend for AFL Fantasy leagues. The remaining four teams battle it out in a do-or-die clash, aiming for a spot in the Grand Final.

There is no tomorrow after this week.

(Well, you can obviously keep playing and there is Fantasy Match Day with a chance to win $1000 each weekend that continues throughout September).

Most coaches were faced with a couple of forced trades ahead of the semi-finals. Whether it was the suspended Brodie Grundy or injured Joel Selwood, there were issues left right and centre with a range of trades made, adding plenty of variation to teams for the Fantasy final series.

Hopefully this week is a little easier.

Selby Lee-Steere is watching the Fantasy scores each weekend and what the moves coaches at the pointy end of the rankings are doing. His team, Moreira's Magic, is the No. 1 team overall and following a score of 2209 on the weekend, holds a commanding 374 point lead over second place.

While Selby may have one hand on the car keys, but as we know with Fantasy footy, there is no such thing as a sure thing... just ask Calvin.

Two teams were knocked out of the Fantasy finals race on the weekend, two now have the week off and wait to see who they take on from this weekend's do-or-die semi-finals.

Almost every week coaches are faced with new challenges.

Joel Selwood has been a highly sought after player in the last few weeks since dipping below $500,000. 64 per cent of the top 250 coaches own Geelong's skipper and will be faced with a forced trade this week. Unfortunately for Selwood owners, his price is $466,000 and it may require some creative thinking to get the most out of the move.

Enter the Match Review Panel.

Brodie Grundy can accept two weeks for his tackle on Ben Brown, while Zach Merrett and Mitch Duncan can take a week with a guilty plea. Draft owners of Tom Hawkins could be without him for two weeks if he accepts his penalty.

Add to that a few injuries and the carnage that is bound to find us when teams are released on Thursday night, you will have to earn your win if you are to get through this week.
