On this episode we start of the first episode of 2021 with lessons we learned from the previous year. The pandemic shifted a lot in our reality and we delve into what exactly the year taught us and how we maneuvered through it and pushed through the year. We move over into basketball as we talk about the wild trade that the Nets and Houston Rockets made to acquire James Harden to play alongside Kyrie Irving, and former teammate Kevin Durant. In African news, Ghana becomes a hub for many entrepreneurs as they have the most up and coming female Entrepreneurs. This leads to a conversation about Matriarchies in African and how important they were and still are in Africa's history. Lastly, we speak on China's continual involvement in Africa building and creating projects all across the continent.
On this episode we introduced new segments that we had in the works for a while. The first segment is called Social Media Stories where we take funny stories and bring them to light. Lastly, we introduce to you Uncle Benja. Uncle Benja always ends the show with words of wisdom and leaves you with the African Proverb for this episode.
Hope you enjoy!

This week on the African Konnection Podcast we talk about the most recent presidential election with Joe Biden and Kamala Harris winning the election and defeating Donald Trump. We speak about the impact that will have on the country, things to look forward to, and reminisce about 4 years of a Trump presidency. With the NBA season over, we congratulate the Lakers for winning the championship and speak about how dominant Lebron James is and has been this past decade. Lastly, although the presidency is secured and the election is over, that does not mean the fight is over. We need to find ways to aid the black community no matter who is in office.

This is the return of African Konnection, Benji & Drew recap the whole year and what they’ve been going through in 2020. Sports plays. A huge role in both of their lives so they speak about the “flow state” and being in the zone, especially with the Mile Tyson fight coming up soon on November 28th. In the main. The main discussion however has to do with multiple movements and protests going on in Africa at the moment. Nigeria, Congo, and Namibia are all facing some sort of injustice and there are important fights for justice that must be highlighted. Lastly Benji and Drew talk about their own experiences in t he work place, dealing with racism and how we will stop microagressions in the workplace.
As always, thank you @iamtydavis for letting us use @pvastudios to record.
Thank you for the support from everyone who listens and watches, we really appreciate it.
Hope you Enjoy!
For the 3rd Episode of the African Konnection Benji and Drew have a special guest, Elizabeth joining the podcast. She gives us an in depth look into her life and background in part one and details how her and her family moved to New York in ’96. For many this will resonate as going to a different continent can be life changing and an eye opening experience. We appreciate her delving into all these interesting facets of her life and sharing her story with us as well as she is our first ever guest on this podcast. As always we thank Ty Davis for letting us use PVA Studios to record this awesome content.
With so much attention and dialogue on African culture this decade, it is time to encapsulate and share that experience with others around the world. So many misconceptions are allowed to spread without all the facts being presented, and it is damaging to the history of Africa. By sharing stories and learning from guests from all across the continent, we will piece together and paint the real picture of Africa in its entirety. This podcast will bring the truth to an amazing, beautiful and diverse heritages across the motherland.
ENJOY!!!

On the first of African Connection I sit down with my good friend Benji Nwokeabia. We both attended Iona and officially met our senior year college. Benji has a very interesting story coming from an international background and living in the states while his parents are back in Switzerland. We discuss his path to Iona and making it on the basketball team and even playing in the prestigious March Madness Tournament. We go in-depth on Africa as musicians, culture, and identity are discussed in an uplifting way. This conversation will extend and take on a life of its own into another podcast that we will collaborate on in the future.
ENJOY!!!
