An Initiative Endorsed by Ambassador Habu.

Please be informed that the petition to host regular meetings with the Diaspora representatives and the Nigeria consulate abroad was approved by Ambassador Habib Habu before he left office. We are now in the process of integrating the program as an adopted policy. This is one of the reasons we will be having the first Nigerian Diaspora Teleforum on October 1st, 2015 to mark the Nigerian Independence Day.  The forum will serve as a preparation towards the actual launching of the Nigerian Diaspora Forum scheduled to take place on October 31st, 2015 at the Nigeria Consulate in New York. We ask for your support and solidarity in our collective effort to transform Nigeria in becoming a nation that reflects the true value of its best citizens.

AV tele-forum is an efficient way to connect required intelligence for specific purpose across the world in real-time. The platform also enables general participation in important forums and discussions allowing intellectual and experiential contribution towards the common good and shared concerns.

In an effort to build consensus across the Global African Diaspora around strategies for cooperating and coordinating, CFA collaborates with African Views to facilitate a conference call of Diaspora leaders in the Western Hemisphere, as part of the 2015 Ronald H. Brown African Affairs Series.  While time, distance and travel resources have proven to be significant obstacles in the coordination of Diaspora in support of Africa, this effort can bridge the gap, by holding the first of several conference calls of Diaspora leaders around the globe to open and strengthen dialogue.

We surmise that cultural homogeneity is on its way to extinction, and that the recognition of cultural diversity has become the new global tradition. However, cultural diversity is just the first step, and incomplete without harmony or congruence between people of different cultures. Cultural harmony shows the possibility of how one culture relates to another and how a person relates to the society. 

Every one of us has a cultural background and often times we must relate with people of other cultures, beliefs, and races within our society or other society when we travel. Sometimes bad laws are made, such as the anti-gay laws in Africa, or police brutality in the USA, Xenophibia, creed, class, racism, political feud,  and claims that one culture is superior or chosen by God over another. These creates negative cultivated dependences which pervade our ability or interest to co-exist peacefully. Look no where else than unto yourself to change the paradigm.

On March 6th, 2014, Part III will examine the current situation and question if the actions of Boko Haram are getting better or worse and if Nigerian has been successfully dealing with Boko Haram.

The panel will examine the failures on success following Dr. Katch's recount of Boko Haram's history and the current situation on ground. Some of the failures include: Training of young child soldiers and Suicide bombing while some of the successes include the recapturing of Baga where Boko Haram destroyed and killed so many people, coordination of activities between Chad, Cameroon, and Niger with American support, and confidence and morale-boosting visit of the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant-General Kenneth Minimah.

This forum is in three parts. Each part is scheduled for one hour. The first part will address the challenges faced by the African Press in doing our work domestically and internationally. Part two, will validate the challenges as legitimate problems because some of our colleagues are often just ranting or confused and in some cases prosecuted for publishing false or defamatory information. Part three will provide us with opportunity to offer our views and ideas on ways and means of strengthening the status of the African press in domestically and around the world.

What ISIS is to Iraq AND Syria, and Al-Qaida is to Afghanistan, that is what Boko Haram is to Nigeria.  This diffuse Salafist sect has attacked Nigeria's police and military, politicians, schools, religious buildings, public institutions, market places, and civilians consistently in Northern Nigeria, but they have since gained confidence and now encroaching Southern parts of Nigeria. They have abducted several hundreds of children, women and girls to the world’s disgusts and destroyed townships, while they put terror in the hearts of Nigerian law enforcement institutions.  Up until few days ago, the Nigerian Government had denied the obvious advancement and atrocities caused by Boko Haram perhaps as political strategy amidst the very heated and looming presidential election coming up in few weeks.

Experts argue that the group existence is due to the fundamental Salafist incubation that social development neglect of the region brewed. Others view the group as an armed revolt against government corruption, abusive security forces, and widening regional economic disparity. Most agree that the Federal Government of Nigeria could have and should have done more to address the strife.
