Lobby group AfriForum is threatening legal action against the Government of National Unity (GNU) after President Cyril Ramaphosa signed the controvertial Expropriation Bill into law. The law was preceeded by a 5-year-long process of public consultations and parliamentary deliberations, with the aim of repealing the Apartheid-era Expropriation Act of 1975. The law also sets out instances where organs of state may expropriate land in the public interest. AfriForum rejected the preceding bill from its inception, citing concerns that it opens opportunities for government to target private property for expropriation without compensation. To speak to us about AfriForum's reaction to the law, Elvis Presslin spoke to the organisation's Head of Public Relations, Ernst van Zyl
