Afro Horror

After a multi-year hiatus from Afro Horror, host Sade Sellers returns with a bang—diving into the new horror film Sinners (2025) with filmmaker Kat Street. This episode is a vibrant and hilarious deep-dive into Ryan Coogler’s genre-bending vampire period piece starring Michael B. Jordan.

Kat and Sade unpack:

• Their first reactions to Sinners and why they’ve already seen it multiple times
• Michael B. Jordan’s double-duty as twin brothers Smoke and Stack
• Why Sammy, the cousin, is the true main character
• Themes of Black ownership, ambition, and artistic legacy
• The film’s nods to blues, hoodoo, and Southern Black history
• Hot takes on supporting characters like Pearline, Grace, and Mary
• The spit scene (yes, that one), vampire lore, and cultural symbolism
• Connections to real-life racial dynamics, classism, and legacy

🎥 They also talk the HBO Max/Max rebrand chaos, Ganja & Hess vs. The Sweet Blood of Jesus, and Kat’s own upcoming horror projects!
