From Ghana comes Osei Banahene taken form the new release Borga Revolution! Volume 3 Ghanaian Dance Music In The Digital Age, 1984-1999. Music from the Spirit of teh Congo with Queen Lilas. Music from Colombias's Pacific Coast - Marimba meets Afrobeat. From Sao Paulo comes Uli Costa e Sandália de Prata and remember Mahlathini and the Mahotella Queens in the UK in 1989! The Flying Hats have a wicked reggae track out right now called Night Bus on ATA records, a touch of reggae meets cumbia from Caribombo’s new release and a rework from Quantic and Colombia’s Abelardo Carbono. Cinema Royal in cinematic mood, and more from the amazing Malian couple Amadou & Mariam with a track from the 90s plus a more recent Bullion remix (they come to Brighton Festival in May). Seun Kuti has another new afrobeat release, this time a rework with Pos from De La Soul, a gem from Afrodream with Killabeatmaker, and from the Danger Zone Thomas Mapfumo with Chikonzero. New release from Congolese singer Queen Lilas and UK based. Old skool anioma music from Azuka Moweta remixed by Captain Planet and touch more classic Congolese music from the late Papa Noel and the Duo Incoparable (Carlyto Lassa/Wuta Mayi)

Music from Zimbabwe from Chiwoniso, Jacob Mafuleni, and The Harare Mambos from the new Analog Africa comp Roots Rocking Zimbabwe. Plus music influenced by afrobeat from Etienne de la Sayette & the Wild Horses Orchestra and also Sandra Iszadore with Rahab McNeish aka RahabtheLyrcist. Music from Gabon via Paris from Le Diablotins 83, some fine jazz from South African sax player Linda Sikhakhane, and more this week from Cinema Royal this time taking the musical influences from Ethiopia's EmahoyTsegue-Maryam Guebrou. Amadou and Mariam appear at the Brightojn Festival on May 5, so an early 90s strack from them, and we take a sitar break with th edirector of the Festival this year - Anoushka Shankar.

Plus a new found album by Brasilian bossa and samba drummer, Edison Machado back in the 70s.

Music from South Africa for the first part with the 50s African Swingsters featuring Zacks Nkosi on sax and the imminent reissue on Matsuli records of his later soul/ jazz band The Anchors, and a new reissue of 70s guitarist Baba Themba Mokoena. Another 'Themba' is vocalist Themba Max Mntambo who’s beautiful maskanda rendition of Amagoduka includes Brazilian percussionist Airto Moreira, Uk trumpeter Byron Wallen, and the late and great South African pianist Moses Molelekwa. Tanzania's Saidi Kanda is live in Brighton on 8th Feb and also plays here with Congo DRC's General Defao, plus Orchestre Celi Bitshou from across the river in Brazzaville.
