This month, Ashley Marcinkus '20 interviews Madison Williams '20. In the episode, Madison details how her experience reporting on Augustana sports with the Augustana Observer led to her current writing position with Sports Illustrated. Williams fondly reminisces on her experience at Augie, mentioning her family connection to the Quad Cities and Rock Island’s best restaurants: Harris Pizza and Arthur’s Deli.
When asked how her Augustana experience empowered her to meet the world’s greatest needs, Madison responded by referencing a recent article she had written about the minority of women in sports journalism. Her article, titled “Barbie, Former NFL Coach Jen Welter Team Up to Show Career Opportunities in Sports,” demonstrates the importance of inclusion in traditionally male-dominated roles. She expressed that everyone, no matter their background, deserves to follow their passions and career goals.
